Specially dedicated for DPOs, the DPO Symposium is an inaugural event to mark the beginning of PAW this year. With contact tracing taking centrestage this year, we look at furthering conversations on biometrics which includes sharing of good practices and debunking of myths of biometrics by industry experts.

09:20	Proposed Amendments to the Personal Data Protection Act Technological advances, new business models and global developments have changed the way personal data is being collected, used and disclosed. To keep pace with the evolving landscape in the Digital Economy while providing for effective protection of personal data, the PDPC has proposed several amendments to the PDPA. This session presents an overview of these amendments which aim to support organisations' efforts as they transform and grow to better serve consumers.
09:55	Good Practices for the Deployment of Biometrics Solutions The ubiquity of biometrics in this present age necessitates a secure and responsible deployment to build consumer trust in the technology. This session presents an overview of what biometric data is, the risks as well as good practices for organisations when deploying biometric solutions.
10:15	Debunking Myths of Biometrics Biometrics offer several advantages to organisations such as security and convenience for their customers. Data is the lifeblood of the digital economy and a digital government. We need to use and share data as fully as possible to provide better public services. In doing so, we must protect the security of the data and preserve the privacy of individuals, and yet not stifle digital innovation. Through this sharing, participants will find out more about the Singapore Government’s approach to managing and protecting data, and how the National Digital Identity is aligned with these principles.

Businesses are now looking to use biometrics for identification and authentication in their processes, but there is no “one size fits all” strategy for implementation.Learn how to leverage the latest SingPass Face Biometrics service for their digital products, without the need to collect biometrics data, to enable a more seamless and secure online experience for your customers.

Organisations are increasingly asked to rely on domain experts to assess their business and legal interests for data processing. Enhance your data protection capabilities with the use of toolkits that process data through human-centric decision-making.

In this workshop led by AsiaDPO, you learn from DPOs with real experience of conducting assessments to deep dive into practical case studies on legitimate interests exception (LI) and deemed consent by notification (DCN). Discover how an assessment toolkit can be effective and valuable to your organisation’s purpose and goals.

With the aim to drive digital security awareness and readiness, this in-depth TTX will take you through a mock data breach incident, which delves into different phases of incident response plans, and evaluating its effectiveness towards improving them.

Amendments to the PDPA have been canvassed and three proposed key changes stand out: (1) The introduction of mandatory breach reporting, (2) the introduction of data portability rights and (3) enhancements to the consent regime in the PDPA to facilitate businesses.

Targeted at DPOs, managers, IT officers and executives, the workshop will take you through scenarios addressing each of the three areas, giving you an opportunity for practical hands on navigating of these changes.
