Advisory Guidelines for the Social Service Sector

These Advisory Guidelines clarify how the Data Protection Provisions in the PDPA apply to social service agencies’ collection, use and disclosure of personal data, as well as suggest good data protection practices in certain scenarios.

Revisions to Advisory Guidelines (updated 18 January 2024)

The Advisory Guidelines have been updated to take into account the amendments to the PDPA and the Personal Data Protection Regulations which came into force on 1 February 2021.

New and up-to-date scenarios illustrating the application of the PDPA to the social service sector have been added to the Advisory Guidelines.
