A notification informs individuals of the purposes for which an organisation is collecting, using or disclosing their personal data. A notification may also provide other information such as the business contact information of the data protection officer or a representative of the organisation who is responsible for addressing queries regarding the organisation’s personal data protection policies, processes for withdrawal of consent and requests for access or correction of individuals’ personal data. This guide aims to illustrate good notification practices for organisations to comply with the Notification Obligation under the PDPA.
